Dennis Matzkin, M.D. graduated from the University of Witwatersrand Medical School in 1980. He completed his internship in medicine and surgery, as well as, ophthalmology at the Johannesburg Hospital. After completing two years national service as a medical officer in South Africa, Dr. Matzkin entered residency in ophthalmology at the University of Cape Town, Groote Schuur Hospital and earned the Fellowship in Ophthalmology by the college of medicine in South Africa.
He spent over a year undergoing training in corneal surgery and began performing Radial Keratomy (RK) under the training of internationally renowned John Hill, M.D.,FCRS. Dr. Matzkin immigrated to the United States in 1989 and completed both a three-year residency in ophthalmology and 18 additional months of fellowship training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York. During the time spent at this prestigious institute, Dr. Matzkin trained under Peter Hersh, M.D., in refraction surgery and PRK.
Dr. Matzkin became board certified in ophthalmology and moved to Atlanta in 1995. He has been in general ophthalmic practice and established the EyeSight Laser Center in September 2000.
Dr. Matzkin is Board Certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the South African Medical Council. He is a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons, American Medical Association, and the Georgia Society of Ophthalmology.
Today, at EyeSight Laser Center, Dr. Matzkin and his staff offer laser vision correction at the first office in the Southeastern U.S. to acquire the exciting new CustomVue individualized laser correction technology.
In addition to having cutting edge technology, Dr. Matzkin has performed over 15,000 procedures. He is the # 1 choice of Optometrists in Georgia with a network of over 75 doctors that refer their patients directly to him. Dr. Matzkin and his family reside in the Atlanta area. Dr. Matzkin enjoys spending his free time coaching baseball and soccer, as well as playing tennis and golf. |
